Tirana Airport bus: city centre or South–North Terminal?

Take the city-centre LU-NA bus if you are staying around Skanderbeg Square, Pazari i Ri, Blloku or elsewhere in central Tirana. Take the South–North Terminal bus only when you need to connect directly to an intercity bus using that terminal.

These are separate direct routes. The terminal bus does not take you into the city centre, while the city-centre bus does not call at the regional terminal.

The fares, hours and estimates above are published by Tirana International Airport. LU-NA’s full timetable confirms 24 hourly city-centre departures in each direction, but only 11 airport-to-terminal departures, from 08:00 through 18:00.

For the reverse terminal journey, South–North Terminal to the airport runs hourly from 07:00 through 18:00. That directional difference is easy to miss.

Treat the journey figures as estimates rather than connection guarantees. The airport quotes 30–40 minutes for the centre route, while LU-NA’s current route display shows about 45 minutes; the operator also warns that traffic and other external conditions can cause delays.

Choose the city-centre bus for a Tirana stay

The central stop is behind the Palace of Opera and Ballet at Skanderbeg Square—not at the South–North Bus Terminal. LU-NA’s current route page identifies the stop and says its buses carry the LU-NA logo and a TIRANA / AIRPORT electronic sign.

This is the useful route for accommodation near Skanderbeg Square and for continuing into central districts such as Pazari i Ri or Blloku. Plan the final leg from the Opera stop separately, especially with heavy luggage: LU-NA’s travel conditions describe the airport service as direct, without official intermediate stops.

At the airport, head to the bus area outside the arrivals terminal. The airport’s bus-station page places it next to parking area P1.

Choose the terminal bus for an onward regional connection

Use TIA → South–North Bus Terminal when your next bus departs from that terminal. It avoids travelling first to Skanderbeg Square and then back out to the regional terminal with luggage.

Before committing to it, check two things:

1. Your onward bus really leaves from the South–North Terminal. Tirana has other departure points, so use the terminal named by your ticket or operator.
2. Your arrival leaves a sensible buffer. The last published airport departure to the terminal is 18:00. Do not build a tight connection around the stated 20–30-minute estimate.

If you land after the terminal route has finished, the 24-hour city-centre bus is still available, but it leaves you behind the Opera—not at the regional terminal. You will need to arrange that transfer separately or travel onward another day.

Fares, tickets and luggage

The current airport and operator pages agree on the on-board one-way fares: 400 ALL/€4.50 for the centre and 300 ALL/€3.50 for the terminal. LU-NA says online purchases carry an additional transaction fee, so the table does not represent the final online price. Use the live pages rather than an older brochure or saved timetable if figures conflict.

LU-NA says tickets can be bought on board or online without advance booking. Its current conditions allow two large pieces of luggage and two small bags per passenger. Bicycles and other large items cost an extra 500 ALL, and bicycle space may be limited on night services; check the operator’s conditions before travelling with oversized baggage.
